Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court after spring of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
